Protect yourself and your family from scammers

You should only schedule a tour and/or apply for one of our properties directly through the Evergreen Live website.

Evergreen Live will never ask you to pay any amounts in cash, transfer money via wire, prepaid or digital gift cards, send MoneyGram, or request funds through Zelle or any non-Evergreen Live payment app, such as Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay or others.

Common signs of a rental scam

  • Unbelievably Low Rent: Rental prices significantly below the market rate.
  • Requests for Unusual Payments: Demand for wire transfers, cash-only transactions, or payment before lease signing.
  • Lack of Property Viewing: Inability or refusal to schedule a property viewing.

Ways to avoid falling for a scam

  • Research: Thoroughly research the property, its rental rates, and the landlord.
  • In-Person Viewing: Insist on viewing the property in person before committing to anything.
  • Use Reputable Platforms: Only utilize trusted rental websites or work with licensed real estate agents.

What to do if you think you’ve been scammed

  • Report: Contact the platform where the listing was found to report the scam.
  • Notify Authorities: Inform local law enforcement or relevant consumer protection agencies.
  • Cease Communication: Stop all further communication with the suspected scammer.
